I disconnected and removed the battery and then pressure washed the engine and engine bay when I bought my Z. It was really bad. Next I used my compressor and an air hose with a custom made nozzle to blow everything out. I disconnected almost all of the connectors that I could and blew them out too. I then sprayed each connector with some electronics cleaner as well. Let it stand in the sun with the hood up for the rest of the day. Connected everything back up and never had a problem for the 3 years I had the car. I took the gamble even after reading all the don't do it posts. It worked for me, but I also took a lot of precautions doing it.
